What "old fashioned" cultural behavior do you wish still existed in these modern times?
Where do I begin...
1. Chivalry.
2. Better, more respectful treating of elderly.
3. Posture. Too much hunching these days.
4. Corsets. Hats. In general, clothing that allows you to take your time, instead of rushing out the door with your mind all over the place.
5. I can't say I am not a feminist (I mean, I don't want my voting right taken away from me), I am. And I don't believe that a woman's place is in the kitchen. And it might be the issue in my community only, but nowadays, if I were to marry and choose to become a housekeeper, 90 % of folks would automatically assume that I'd found myself a sugar daddy so I could spend the rest of my life attending salons and getting manicures. Housekeeping is hard work, and it can be quite enjoyable.
6. I wish dancing and etiquette classes were mandatory, for both genders.
7. I wish to bring back the forgotten art of letter writing.
... etc. The possibilities are endless.
Lavish and organized or casual and last-minute? What kind of parties do you typically throw?
I haven't thrown a party in years! Sad, but true. When I do, though, it's both types. There's something very posh about OCD organising and great detailing, but in my experience, most casual last-minute parties tend to be much warmer. Perhaps it's because when it comes to casual, I tend to get together with friends & family.
What's your favorite holiday tradition? And not to be a grinch, but mind sharing your least favorite?
It's hard to pick just one, as I love holidays. I'm all for Christmas music in November, I like picking out cards (for myself, too), I like thinking of gifts, organising parties, watching the President's speech two minutes before New Year, and, of course, setting up a tree. The tree part might be my favourite, along with sending out greeting cards to folks I love.
As for the least favourite,.. I don't know. Is taking the tree down a tradition?
If you had to give up either the internet or television for the next two weeks, which one would you choose? Explain, please.
Definitely television. I can go without it for days no end, and there's hardly any show that I enjoy any more. Besides, internet gives me the power of communicating & interacting. And while screaming at your telly might be really enjoyable, it's sort of one-sided and gets old fast.
What do you love most about your job?
The fact that I have it. People are good, also. The environment is nice, it has this kind of bunker-ish feeling to it, and since I'm on a Lost kick, it gets me in the mood. :P The pay is shit, but I'll live.
Also, hi.
